Conducting Business Without A License

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday June 3, deputies responded to an illegal peddling call at a residence in the 2700 block of Pine Lawn Drive. Due to an increase in residential burglaries in the area and the common "knock knock" method of operation, deputies detained a male and female suspect. Neither 27-year-old James Griffin of Chicago, IL or Jazmyne Dominque McDonald, a 19-year old resident of Perris, CA, could provide deputies with a permit or license to conduct business in California. Deputies called the duo's work supervisor who stated that neither she nor her employees had a permit or license from Los Angeles County to solicit or conduct business.

The reporting party told deputies that McDonald has knocked on his door at about 6 p.m. and asked him who serviced his alarm system. The man reportedly told McDonald that he didn't understand why she would ask that considering the two signs clearly displayed on his front lawn. He also reportedly expressed concern for his safety and family's welfare, rejected McDonald's request for information, and sent her away.

Both McDonald and Griffin were cited for conducting business without a license, transported out of the area, and released.
