Crime Blotter: Generator Theft Leaves Victim in the Dark

Necklace Theft Results In Assault

On Wednesday, Nov. 30, a man reported a robbery and assault in the parking lot of  at 3038 Foothill Blvd. According to the report, the suspect approached the man in the store. They spoke to one another before leaving the store separately and without incident. The suspect then returned and asked the victim for directions to Silver Lake. The victim agreed to walk out to the suspect’s car. The suspect, seated in the car’s driver seat, provided paper and asked the victim to write the directions. The victim did so while standing beside the car, and the suspect allegedly reached through the open window, grabbed a gold necklace from the victim’s neck, pulling it and breaking it off the victim. Startled, the victim lost balance and fell as the suspect accelerated away, reportedly running over the victim.

The victim, despite reportedly having tire marks on his pants and redness on his arm, was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Witnesses confirmed the victim’s story and sheriff's deputies obtained video surveillance footage of the incident. Additionally, a witness reported observing the suspect’s car quickly driving out of the parking lot and hitting the curb. Finding the car to seem suspicious, he followed it, then returned to the scene with a complete description handed over to deputies.

Bike Stolen

A mountain bike valued at $502.64 was reported stolen from inside a garage attached to a residence in the 5400 block of Pine Cone Road at noon on Thursday, Dec. 1. The victim reported that the garage door had been left open at the time of the theft.

Generator Taken 

At 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, a resident in the 3800 block of Park Place reported a generator stolen. The victim said he had hidden the generator behind brush and had both chained and locked it to a tree. The chain had been cut. The generator is valued at $1,000.

Glendale Police reported an assault in the 2900 block of Oakendale Place at 8:49 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

Glendale Police reported an attempted theft at 4:08 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in the 3300 block of Paraiso Way.

Glendale Police reported vehicle break-ins at 1:30 and 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in the 3200 block of Pontiac Street and the 3300 block of Fairmont Avenue, and at 12 p.m. and 2 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6 in the 4300 block of Lowell Avenue and 3700 block of 2nd Avenue.
