Crime Blotter: Car Vandalism

Two trucks suffer similar fates and a robbery at gunpoint is reported.

Doused Truck

On the morning of Thursday, March 31, a female resident of the 3000 block of Los Ovivos Lane discovered her pick-up truck, parked in her driveway, had been doused with some type of liquid. The gel-like substance caused the vehicle’s paint to come off resulting in $2,000 worth of damage to the tailgate and driver’s side panel.

Marijuana At School

On March 31, a student at was cited for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana on school grounds. Deputies noted that the student admitted to authorities and school personnel that he had brought the marijuana to school. The 14-year-old was released to the care of his mother.

Robbery at Gunpoint

At 3:40 a.m. on April 1, three female friends returned to a residence at the 2400 block of Florencita Avenue after a night spent at a Hollywood club. According to the report, the three women (in their late teens) were robbed at gunpoint while attempting to exit their vehicle parked on the street. Each victim claimed that three black males with shaved heads, all 6 feet tall and between 180 and 200 pounds, robbed the women of their purses and other personal items while threatening to kill or shoot them if they did not cooperate. The three victims claimed that they handed over their property and were not physically harmed. The suspects reportedly fled the scene in a nearby vehicle.

House Burglarized

After a night away, a family returned to their home on the 2000 block of Fairway Avenue at 8 a.m. on Monday to find that the property’s driveway gate was open in the opposite direction than was normal. According to the report, the home’s kitchen door was unlocked and a detached garage accessed. Missing were a pair of pearl earrings, a home stereo and two cordless drills. The female victim reported that a set of house keys was believed to have been lost previous to the burglary.

Doused Truck, Round Two

Noted to be similar to a report filed on March 31, a female resident of the 2200 block of Waltonia Drive told deputies that her Dodge Ram pick-up truck was doused with a gel-like substance some time between 7 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The truck had been parked in the driveway of the residence. The substance caused bubbling of the paint on the hood, grill, front fender, front bumper, and headlight area of the truck, causing $3000 in damage.
