CHP Investigates Fatal 134 Freeway Crash
A high-profile investigation team is looking into the Aug. 12 crash that claimed four lives in Eagle Rock.
Ten days after in an accident on the 134 freeway in nearby Eagle Rock, the California Highway Patrol has yet to release any details about the crash.
Initial reports from a witness indicated that the ill-fated vehicle, a Ford Expedition SUV, had blown a tire, rolled over repeatedly and landed on Figueroa Street below.
“Right now, it’s pretty much status quo—we can’t release any information because the accident is still under investigation,” CHP Public Information Officer Kevin Denmon told Eagle Rock Patch.

The CHP’s so-called Multi-Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is probing the crash. MAIT usually handles investigation in which three or more casualties are involved, said Denmon, who is based in the CHP’s Altadena office. The team has “all kinds of whiz-bang goodies” that typical CHP officers don’t have, Denmon added referring to high-tech gadgets.
The investigation is likely to take at least a month, Denmon said.
