Child Suffers Head Abrasions in Car Crash

A five-year-old girl was airlifted to a hospital Monday morning after a car allegedly ran through a stop sign in La Crescenta, causing a crash.

A 5-year-old girl is hospitalized with cuts across her head Monday morning after a driver allegedly ran a stop sign in La Crescenta, sheriff's officials told Patch. 

Authorities airlifted the girl from the parking lot of the in the 4500 block of Raymond to a hospital, said. She is in stable condition, Shepherd added.

According to a preliminary investigation, the car carrying the 5-year-old passenger was stopped at the Mountain Avenue sign at Briggs about 7:15 a.m.

As the driver turned left southbound onto Briggs when a second car driving northbound apparently drove through the stop sign and struck the vehicle with the child inside, Shepherd told Crescenta Valley Weekly.

The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
