Updated: 210 Freeway Brush Fire Extinguished

A one-acre brush fire broke out in a grassy area alongside the 210 Freeway. Firefighters are working to put it out.

Update 3 p.m: The fire was contained as of 1:47 p.m. acording to Inspector Tony Imbrenda of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.  There are still firefighters at the scene "mopping up" but no danger of the fire spreading further, Imbrenda added.

There are also investigators on the scene attempting to figure out the cause of the fire, according to Imbrenda.

A jeep nearby the scene of the fire appeared to have been damaged by the blaze, according to a Patch reporter at the scene.  Imbrenda, however, said he did not have any information about a damaged vehicle.

He said firefighters on scene had not requested back-up and said he does not anticipate it to be a serious problem.

Traffic in the area is likely to be slow for westbound commuters at least through 2:10 p.m. as the California Highway Patrol has closed the right two lanes, according to their log.
