A body was found Monday a short distance away from a car that plunged about 200 feet down an embankment off North Angeles Crest Highway.
Caltrans crews spotted the car about 1:45 p.m. at mile marker 31-10 in an area known as "Sack Wall,'' said county firefighter Inspector Brian Riley.
He said that at first check, no one was found inside the car. The body was later found nearby.
California Highway Patrol investigators were on scene trying to figure out how the crash occurred.
