Body Found in Angeles National Forest Still Unidentified

A hiker made the gruesome discovery early Saturday. Authorities have not identified the man who is apparently in his mid-20s.

Los Angeles County Coroner's officials have not yet identified a man who was found dead on a hiking trail north of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Angeles National Forest over the weekend, officials told Patch.

A hiker found the man who is apparently in his 20s, said Coroner's Lt. Larry Bietz. Authorities do not know the cause of death.

It is unknown how long the body may have been there and his death appears to be a hiking accident, said Sergeant Cynthia Gonzales of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station.

A hiker made the discovery around 7:40 a.m. Saturday. The person then hiked out and contacted authorities, Gonzales said.

Sheriff's investigators were at the scene about 10:30 a.m. to remove the body.
