Bear Causes Commotion in Glendora Neighborhood

Glendora Police and the Department of Fish and Game try drive away an unwanted visitor from a Glendora home.

Glendora Police spent two hours trying to drive away a roughly 400-pound bear that wandered onto a property on Sierra Madre Avenue Friday afternoon.

The bear showed up in the backyard of a residence at 323 Sierra Madre Avenue at around 4 p.m.

Traffic still flowed on Sierra Madre Avenue, but police had the property blocked off.

The bear left and returned to the property several times, prompting police to shoo neighbors and curious onlookers further away from the property. By 6 p.m., police shot bean bags and pepper balls toward the bear, which retreated back into the hills and did not return.

Officers had non-lethal shotguns drawn in case they needed to subdue the bear. According to neighbors on the scene, the bear is a familiar visitor, having been spotted in the neighborhood on multiple occasions without incident.

That would be "Mr. Glen", I'm thinking! :) Too many noisy helicopters, totally unnecessary! My tax dollars at work...
