Police Warn About Fraudulent 'Glendale Water and Power' Calls

If 818-548-3301 calls you, don't fall prey to its scam.

Glendale police are alerting citizens to a local fraud scheme targeting residents for their credit-card information with phone calls purporting to come from Glendale Water and Power.

Police say the calls are originating from 818-548-3301. The callers identify themselves as representatives of Glendale Water and Power (two used names have been Linda James and Michelle Williams), who ask customers to pay a balance they owe over the phone with a credit card to avoid service cancellation the same day.

"This is not standard GWP procedure," Glendale police advise. "Payments are not taken over the phone." Police advise that if you receive one of these calls, "do not give out credit card or other personal information. Please write down any information the caller gives you, and then call Glendale Water and Power at 818-548-3300."
