What Should Trader Joe's do with its Leftover Food?

Film Director Jeremy Seifert has launched a campaign through change.org asking Trader Joe's to stop wasting food.

Every year, Americans throw away 96 billion pounds of food. This translates to 263 million pounds a day.

That's why Dive! director Jeremy Seifert has launched a campaign through change.org asking Monrovia-based grocery store to stop wasting food.

"For many years now, I have fed my family food from the dumpster. It’s not because I can’t afford to shop at grocery stores like other, normal folks," he wrote on change.org. "It’s because supermarkets across the nation toss perfectly good meats, cheeses, eggs, and produce into the trash every, single day."

For Seifert, supermarkets stand out as one of the country's worst offenders in wasting food, and he hopes his campaign will inspire the “friendly neighborhood store” to donate the food to those in need rather than simply throwing it away.

Thus far, 31,890 people have signed the petition

Patch asks: What do you think La Crescenta's Trader Joe's should do with it's leftover food? Do you know of a place around town in need of the donations?

Thank you so much. I definitely should not have been wearing it... it has been loose for a coupleRead More of years now. I'm hoping that it is on my property otherwise I am at the grace of good honest people... Thank you for your suggestions and I have filed a lost property report and I will definitely call the local pawn shops. Keeping it in perspective and at the end of the day it is just an object, but I'm definitely hoping that it finds its way back.

I can well empathsize with your loss. First thing, can you remember taking it off anywhere? DidRead More you wash your hands anywhere, soap makes fingers slippery. Did it fit well or was it a little loose? Running makes the arms swing. Strange as it may seem, it may still be in or on your own property. There are still honest people, call the desk of every business you went to. Also, call every pawn shop in your area and report. Good luck. If its any comfort, I found a diamond studded tie tack when I gazed at the soil in my garden and saw it. Keep us posted. b
