Painter Seeks Wild Love Story

La Crescenta local, Rolando Pena, can be seen painting abstracts by day and reading up on literature by night…

Demi and Ashton may be on the rocks, but marriage isn’t for everyone. In fact, some say divorce can be a good thing if both parties agree on the level of misery. But the mere idea that I am losing hope in humanity doesn’t mean that all hope is lost. Someone out there has it… and his name is Rolando.

Name: Rolando Pena

Age: 38

Occupation: Painter

Current Location:

Relationship Status: Single

Interested In: A wild and happy love story.

What are you doing at the library at this late hour?

I like to come here and read. It's free, you know!

What kind of reading?

Literature. I like Castaneda, and I am taking my time trying to read all of Don Quixote.

That's some serious reading. What do you do?

I am an artist. I paint … all kinds of things. There is something about being alone with a canvas and my mind.

Who is your inspiration?

Salvador Dali is a genius, of course. And Kandinsky, he is a Russian abstract artist.

I wish I were a good painter. But I am pretty good at cutting out magazine pictures and painting over them and then pretending that they are mine.

Hey, whatever works! There can be creativity in that, too.

Now you’re just trying to be nice. But I will take it. Are you single?

Yes. I am recently single after getting separated from my wife. It’s tough. Some people weren’t built for it, you know?

I do know.

But it was mutual, and we are still remaining friends.

That’s great. How long were you ?

Only two years. I was single for almost eight years prior, so it’s hard to adapt to this new life again. The relationship was getting bad toward the end. I think certain people are cut out for marriage and some are not.

Do you think Ashton and Demi will ?

Do I care?

I suppose not.

But, yes, probably. I think the age difference can be a problem down the road for any couple.

How old is your ex?

19.

Really?

No. I’m kidding. She’s my age … 21.

Right. What are the three most important qualities you look for in a woman?

Drama-free for starters. I don’t like . She must be smart enough to handle very tough situations 'cause I can be a handfull. And happy and wild like me would be great. A good attitude is a must.

Where do you work?

I used to own a coffee shop a few years ago, and it had an art gallery in it. So I would like to start something like that in La Crescenta at some point. But at the moment, I am working with graphics. I guess I am sort of an entrepreneur.

Entrepreneur in Spanish is empresario. Are you impressed?

Very good! You know ?

Nope. What do you want do to with your life?

The truth is that I just want to be happy.

Do you want one day?

I have a son. I don’t want any more kids, though.

Where are you headed right now?

I was going to go over and meet a friend at and hopefully discuss a future collaboration on an art project. I think that place is very inspiring.

What is your favorite restaurant in Montrose?

! They have great chips and salsa, something that many Mexican restaurants do wrong.

Is that where you are from?

Originally, yes. I’m from Mexico City.

I bet the chips and salsa are pretty good there, too.

Thank you so much. I definitely should not have been wearing it... it has been loose for a coupleRead More of years now. I'm hoping that it is on my property otherwise I am at the grace of good honest people... Thank you for your suggestions and I have filed a lost property report and I will definitely call the local pawn shops. Keeping it in perspective and at the end of the day it is just an object, but I'm definitely hoping that it finds its way back.

I can well empathsize with your loss. First thing, can you remember taking it off anywhere? DidRead More you wash your hands anywhere, soap makes fingers slippery. Did it fit well or was it a little loose? Running makes the arms swing. Strange as it may seem, it may still be in or on your own property. There are still honest people, call the desk of every business you went to. Also, call every pawn shop in your area and report. Good luck. If its any comfort, I found a diamond studded tie tack when I gazed at the soil in my garden and saw it. Keep us posted. b
