Whether single or in a relationship, most Montrose residents are experts on the dating scene. As a -oriented town, many locals have been here for decades and therefore spent many nights courting their significant others.
“I like to take my wife out on our anniversary,” said Ignacio Ramirez, 40. “I think it’s important in working on a , especially when two people have been together for several years like we have.”
“It’s hard enough to make a relationship work, so going out and having fun is very important,” he added.
And these days Ramirez has a tough time choosing between and when it comes to his favorite cuisine. “Sake is good because it seems to have everything and they always have good dinner deals, whereas Blue Fish has good ambience. It’s a toss up,” he admits.
But sushi isn’t the only specialty cuisine Montrose has to offer. This little town has some of the best Mexican food in Glendale where Dave Jahansan, 52, has taken his girlfriend, Sarah Dresden, 31, on their anniversary. “We met in Montrose at where a mutual friend was having a birthday dinner. So, of course it’s our favorite! As far as a more adventurous date night, we like bowling!”
And when it comes to keeping the romance alive, Jahansan agrees, “It’s really easy as long as you look at the positive attributes in your partner.”
“My girlfriend is always there when I need a favor. She’s also easy on the eyes. My main suggestion for lasting love is not sweating the small stuff,” he added.
Dresden, a former , admits, “There will certainly be issues between a couple who lives together, so it’s important to pick your battles.”
Montrose local Julie Reasbeck, 29, hasn’t been so lucky, “My boyfriend and I constantly disagree on where to go out on dates. He prefers because he’s a meat and beer person. I like a picnic in the park because that’s romantic,” she said.
And when it comes to romance, Reasbeck knows exactly what she’s talking about, “Thursdays we try and go to Descanso Gardens for . I am a musician and it’s inspiring to be there.”
“My boyfriend and I end up leaving there with a happy, giddy feeling. The first time we went there, he surprised me by blindfolding me on the way there,” added Reasbeck.
Whether a jazz concert, sushi bar or Mexican fiesta, Montrose locals know just how to have fun on a date. And when it comes to a friendly game of pool at , a refreshing glass of homemade lemonade at the or sharing a malted milkshake at , Montrose’s dating scene is here to stay.
