Small Business Saturday - Shop Local!

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there were nearly 28 million small businesses in the United States last year.  Over the past two decades, they created 65 percent of net new jobs.  Directly supporting the communities in which we live, every $100 spent in locally-owned, independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures, according to the small business advocacy group The 3/50 Project.

There are lots more statistics out there about small business. Generally they all serve to prove that locally owned businesses build strong communities by connecting neighbors, providing unique local character, hiring and reinvesting locally, and contributing liberally to local causes. A strong local business community even increases home values - by a lot! Check out this link to a home value calculator:

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

This year, Small Business Saturday is on November 30th

Please join me in my pledge to shop local on this day (and every day!) and try to shop in at least 3 local businesses. At my gift shop, Boulevard 34, we're planning some fun sales and activities to show our commitment to our community and hope you'll drop in to see us and our neighbors, Berolina Bakery and Schreiner's Deli to show your support for small business!

Live Beautifully,

Anna
