Patch Blog: Leo's All-Star Sports Bar

Good food, great people, lots and lots of TVs, plus a great live band and no cover. Go! Enjoy! Rock on.

Sampling their “Louisiana-style” clam chowder at last Wednesday night’s , I was reminded again of the great food at Leo’s All Star Sports Bar - sometimes spicy and absolutely delicious.

So, last Saturday night, with my wife out of the house and chowder on my mind, I naturally headed to Leo’s for dinner.

Go there any time and you feel like you just entered the Boston bar depicted in the sitcom Cheers. Warm and friendly, more than 30 televisions all tuned to sports and some of the best bar food anywhere. Settling myself on the closest bar stool, I ordered a beer, a cup of their chowder and a chicken philly sandwich. Completely content, I happily watched the conclusions of the three or four college games on the TVs I could easily see without my glasses. Very nice and exactly what I expected.

What I didn’t expect, was the band. Around 8:45 pm, the Kyle Frost Band took the stage. Someone told me they play here frequently. Lead singer and guitarist Kyle, along with backup vocalist Tami Frost, guitarist Jack Aurora, bassist Andy Gustafson, and drummer Dave Devlin are all extremely skilled and talented musicians. They put their clever and well-crafted interpretations on contemporary hits, plus some lesser-known songs. My favorite was the band’s version of B.B. King’s Marry You. They tore the roof off Leo’s with that song!

So, good food, great people, lots and lots of TVs, plus a great live band and no cover. What took me so long? In fact, why isn’t the whole town there every Saturday night? Go! Enjoy! Rock on.
