National Night Out: Where Can You Go?

Crescenta Valley and Glendale residents have several locations to talk to law enforcement about area crime and meet neighbors on National Night Out Tuesday.

Get to know the neighbors you've never met or the people behind the uniforms at National Night Out on Tuesday.

The 29th annual celebration across the U.S. invites neighbors and local merchants to mingle and keep the community safe.

National Night out is a yearly event designed for communities to do the following:

  • Strengthen Neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Increase crime prevention awareness locally
  • Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs
  • Help deter crime in neighborhoods by sending a message to criminals letting them know that neighbors are on the alert, are organized and will take action against crime

Montrose-La Crescenta residents have several spots where they can join in the fun:

The Sycamore Woods Neighborhood Watch group will host neighbors and community leaders from Glendale City Council, Glendale Police, Glendale Fire gathering at Twelve Oaks Lodge, 2820 Sycamore Ave., La Crescenta from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The lodge offered its facility for locals, including representatives from Assemblyman Mike Gatto's office and Sen. Carol Liu's office.

Twelve Oaks is a Glendale-based non-profit organization that provides quality housing, health and support services to more than 5,200 adults in California. Neighbors will bring appetizers and the lodge will provide desserts.

Anyone who runs a local business or wants to donate any products or services to the raffle is welcome. To learn more about North Glendale's Neighborhood Watch Program, contact Trissie Badger at (818) 522-3575 or email tbadger2000@yahoo.com

Crescenta Valley Sheriff's deputies will host a neighborhood event from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ralph's Fresh Air Market, 2675 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta and Vons Supermarket, 635 Foothill Blvd., La Canada Flintridge.
