'Meatball' Will Stay in Southern California

The adventurous bear known for its food chases and public captures will continue living in Alpine, CA.

The 300-pound bear that roamed La Crescenta and Montrose in the spring will stay in Southern California, fish and game officials told the Glendale News-Press.

Authorities expected to send the bear to a wildlife sanctuary in Colorado, but state laws blocked this from happening, The News-Press reported.
