Patch Blog: It Was a Dark, Stormy Night

Description and video of the windstorm through Montrose.

In my mind this windstorm was (and is) a storm of epic proportions. Everyone I know has tales of downed limbs, damaged homes and harrowing encounters with errant shopping carts. (I had one chase me down Lake Avenue in Pasadena. It was pretty freaky).

I took off with camera in hand at 6 a.m. Thursday morning to see what the wind had done. The wind was still fierce as I left Montecito Park and I was nearly blown over when I made the turn onto Verdugo Road. I tried to video a little sapling being blown horizontal, but my camera was shaking too much!

On Honolulu Avenue I was astonished to see how clear the street was. The forest of limbs on the roadside told the story of a vigilent and dedicated city crew that had already cleared the streets.
