10th annual Turkey Trot Cross Race

Kick off the day at 8AM the first annual Turkey Cross Country Run presented by PowerBar!

The approximately 5km run will take participants off the road and onto the same grass, sand, and dirt course that cyclocross racers compete on.  Register in advance for the low price of $15, and each participant will receive a PowerBar product goodie bag valued at $10.  Prizes will be awarded to men's and women's winners, and a FREE tot trot dash will also be offered for younger runners who want to get their gobble on.

8:30am the course opens for cyclocross warm up and beginner's clinic then the Juniors, Youth and first-timers roll out at 9am to start the first 'cross race of the day!  SoCalCross Prestige Series points on the line in 22 race categories from beginner to Pro, Masters to Youth with 7 waves of racing from 9am to 4om.  Special events hosting in conjunction include... At 10am Walk Bike Glendale will host a community ride to the Park when they arrive at the park they'll be treated to a VIP welcome and intro to cyclo-cross from special guests Kona World Team Pros Barry Wicks and Spencer Paxson!

At 11:45am it's time for the 10th annual Kiddie Cross race... cyclocross racing for the little ones on their own custom 'cross course.

At 12:45pm we'll host the community-beginner friendly 'Just for Fun' Community Cross Race... a short intro course to 'cross.   The final fun race will be Doggie Cross at 1:45pm and benefiting the German Shepherd Rescue OC!  Owner and doggie - costumes encourage - will 'run' in tandem on the fun cross course.  Leashes required.  Prizes to the winners in size divisions.   GSROC will also have adoption hopefuls will be cheering from the sidelines at the Park.

At 1:00pm Walk Bike Glendale will lead a short 30 minute walk tour of the historic surrounding neighborhood.

THE CX COURSE:  Race takes place in a beautiful urban park shaded by trees. Flat grass start/finish with rolling, twisty grass sections through a mix of grass, pavement, dirt, mulch.  The course will travel up and down the park picnic and dirt roads, there will be one double barrier set, a challenging stairs section run up, two times through the infamous Tot Playground Sand Pit! This UNRIVALED spectator course!  Each lap is approx. 3.5km in length.  Races are timed circuits on the course based on the leader of each race wave.  All races finish on the lap of the wave leader.

THE VENUE: Verdugo Park is one of the crown jewels in the City of Glendale park system. Though it is in the middle of a residential neighborhood it features ample grass, mature shade trees, a sparkling creek, great picnic areas, athletic fields and a renowned skate park!
