Every Vote Counts, Remember?

Patch has been on the street all morning long to find out how Montrose is voting ... or isn't.

With three sites conveniently located in Montrose, voters have option of stopping by , , and  between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. (voters can also vote at the , but only for the GUSD Board of trustees).

Even with this myriad of nearby options, Montrose is not flocking to the polls. As of 10:30 a.m., parking lots at the Montrose Community Church and First Baptist Church lay barren, no voters in sight. Montrose Community Church reported 24 voters since 7 a.m. and First Baptist Church reported 31 voters.

At the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, not a single patron had yet been to the polls, nor had plans to. Roger Osterhold, a director who has resided in Montrose since 1982, reported that he "can't stand any of them," referring to the Glendale City Council candidates.

He went on to say he felt "discouraged" by the levels to which the political campaign has sunk, citing the scandal surrounding John Drayman and Mike Mohill. Other residents expressed similar sentiments.

Despite the small turnout, workers at the polls were in good spirits, happy to do their part to further democracy. Campaign workers at the First Baptist Church pointed out that it's still early in the day, and they will be expecting more turnout this evening as residents get out of work.
