Crime Blotter: Suitcase and Mailbox Go Missing

An unattended suitcase is snatched and a resident returns home to find his mailbox has been stolen.

Mailbox Missing

On the morning of Monday, April 18, a resident of the 5800 block of Edmund Avenue returned home from a weekend away to find that his mailbox had been stolen from the post outside his home.

Burglarized Vehicle

A male resident of the 2400 block of Carol Park Place reported the front driver’s window of his vehicle smashed and the interior ransacked while parked on the street some time between 7 p.m. April 18 and 6:30 a.m. the following day. Stolen from the car’s glove box were a wallet, an expired U.S. passport, and Nikon camera.

Grand Theft

A woman preparing to be picked up by a shuttle bus reported to deputies that her luggage was stolen while left momentarily unattended in the driveway of her residence in the 2500 block of Manhattan Avenue. The flight attendant reported that at approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, she had left a piece of luggage outside her home while going back in to retrieve more. While inside, the luggage disappeared. The luggage case, valued at $400, contained a laptop computer worth $400, and clothing and personal items worth $500.

Petty Theft

Looking out a window of his residence in the 4300 block of Ramsdall Avenue on the evening of Wednesday, April 20, a man saw a person he did not know inside his car. The resident ran outside and the man fled, but was described as being a male, 15 to 18 years old, wearing an orange hoodie sweatshirt. The resident reported that an iPod and a portable DVD player had been taken from where they had been left on the center console of the unlocked vehicle.
