According to the incident report, deputies approached Jason Eric Green, a 31-year-old unemployed make resident of La Crescenta, and 20-year old female Courtney Michelle Cassis of Glendale, near a van parked at the location. Inside the van, deputies reportedly recognized occupant William Walter Gaffney, 45, of Panorama City, who they believed to be on parole for theft. It was reported that for a moment, both Green and Cassis were out of sight near the van.

Deputies confirmed Gaffney’s parole and conducted a compliance search of the van. Discovered inside was a computer bag containing a cell phone, 2 iPods, a Dell PDA, a digital camera, Apple laptop, HP laptop, a pocket watch, a wrist watch, 3 knives, 3 small flashlights, and a pair of latex gloves, as well as Green’s wallet and ID.

Deputies believed that due to Green’s familiarity to law enforcement and manner in which the items had been crammed into the bag, that all were stolen property from vehicle burglaries. Green reportedly told deputies that everything in the bag belonged to him. He also allegedly said that he fixed electronics and some of the items did not work.

In a blue trash bin located near the van, deputies reportedly recovered a sunglasses case holding a glass pipe containing a substance resembling methamphetamine, along with two baggies containing residue resembling the same substance.

Based on the evidence, deputies arrested Cassis and Green on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gaffney was reportedly booked for warrants.
