5 Things to Make Your Monday

Patch found five great ways to help you enjoy July 18!

1. The Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley meets at 7 p.m. at the , 4845 Dunsmore Ave. The group meets monthly. Stop by the society's website to view "now and then" photos, learn a bit of history, and discover new facts about the old Crescenta Valley.

2. Monday is gaming day at the , 2809 Foothill Blvd. Stop by between 2 and 5 p.m.  Bring a board game or just join in the fun. For more information, call the library at 818-248-5313.

3. Montrose Bike Shop, 2501 Honolulu Ave., is having a closeout sale on 2010 model bikes. Stop by the shop's website for more information and to start shopping.

4. Don't forget that you can get around town without a car or a bike thanks to the Glendale Beeline. When it's too much to walk but you want to save money on gas and parking, the Beeline is a great choice for getting around. Schedules and fare information can be found on the Beeline's website, but most fares are under a dollar per trip.

5. Gardens are producing lots of tomatoes and other vegetables right now. Learn composting basics that will turn your organic waste into rich fertilizer. Glendale's Public Works' website can get you started with the basics and show you were to go for information and workshops to help you become a master composter.
