Blog: Home Exercise or Walking, What Burns More Calories?

You can lose weight at home in only two 20 minute sessions a week!

If you want to get in shape but can’t find the time, stay home and exercise. Most people who only walk have a hard time getting the weight off. The reason is all about metabolism. Have you ever noticed how men seem to lose weight easier than women? The reason is muscle mass. Men carry more muscle than women and muscle is very metabolically active.

If you walk for an hour you can burn about 200 to 400 calories. If you put on 10 pounds of muscle you burn 300 to 500 calories a day, every day even while sleeping. The reason: muscles get hungry. They need 30 to 50 calories per pound to stay alive. Take 10 pounds times 30 to 50 calories and you get 300 to 500 calories per day!

Since time is the biggest obstacle for not exercising, a good home program could be the answer you’ve been looking for. You don’t need time to drive anywhere and you don’t need to do it all at once. I give 20 minute programs to clients that they only do twice a week. You can make steady improvements if you keep consistent and keep the body challenged.

The good news is you don’t need expensive equipment that takes up space and you don’t need a lot of money. The sports stores are full of options from dumb bells to swiss balls. You can also get resistance straps and lots of accessories that fit under the bed.

If you’re looking for a way to put together a home routine you can find lots of tips on the internet or sports TV shows. If you want some help from us give us a call or check out our website at body-mastery.net.

Thank you so much. I definitely should not have been wearing it... it has been loose for a coupleRead More of years now. I'm hoping that it is on my property otherwise I am at the grace of good honest people... Thank you for your suggestions and I have filed a lost property report and I will definitely call the local pawn shops. Keeping it in perspective and at the end of the day it is just an object, but I'm definitely hoping that it finds its way back.

I can well empathsize with your loss. First thing, can you remember taking it off anywhere? DidRead More you wash your hands anywhere, soap makes fingers slippery. Did it fit well or was it a little loose? Running makes the arms swing. Strange as it may seem, it may still be in or on your own property. There are still honest people, call the desk of every business you went to. Also, call every pawn shop in your area and report. Good luck. If its any comfort, I found a diamond studded tie tack when I gazed at the soil in my garden and saw it. Keep us posted. b
