You've Got Mail ... Boxes!

Mailboxes Plus in La Crescenta hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 26 to celebrate their membership into the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Even Saturday’s poor weather conditions couldn’t put a damper on the celebration that took place at in La Crescenta. The small business hosted an afternoon ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate their recent membership into the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce.

While the business has had a storefront at 3115 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta since 1992, it has changed ownership several times.  The current owners, partners Garen Amirganian and Henry Nazaryan, have been operating the business together for four months.

Amirganian has lived in the area for over 25 years and sees the business as a way to give back to the community. He explains he is "a graphic designer and used to work for a company that offers similar services.”

In explaining the services they offer to the community, it is clear that Amirganian has his customers’ best interests in mind.  He calls the store a “one-stop shop for businesses and personal use.” The business operates as a full service mail facility, offering packing and shipping services through UPS, FedEx, USPS and DHL. Shipping and receiving of letters and packages is also handled inside the storefront.

While the “Mailboxes” aspect of their name is fairly standard, it is the “Plus” services that make this business really stand out. Future plans for expansion include storage areas, a virtual office and call center, private offices and other business-related services and facilities.

Furthermore, Amirganian harbors hope of making the site an Ebay dropoff location, where individuals can store their listed items until they sell. Once these items have sold, Mailboxes Plus will handle every aspect of packing and shipping the items out for a small fee. He adds, “Who couldn’t use a few extra bucks in their pocket? We would be able to make that easier.”

Joining the Chamber has many benefits to businesses, including advertising opportunities and referrals within the community. Amirganian explains that they hope to host a mixer in the coming months, an event that will allow the owners to socialize and network with other business owners in the area as well as gain visibility in the community.

While sending letters may seem to be a thing of the past with the popularization of email and online bill pay, there is still a huge market for sending and receiving packages and other items in the mail, mostly because of the advent of online shopping. Mailboxes Plus is truly a one-stop shop to meet personal needs, as well as those of a complex business, and as Chamber members they truly are a welcome and needed part of the community.

Editor's Note: In a previous version of this article, it was stated that Mailboxes Plus joined the Montrose-Verdugo Chamber of Commerce. It has since been corrected, as it is a member of the La Crescenta Chamber of Commerce.
