Celebration Slated for Trader Joe's Opening

Montrose locals are invited to the new store for a day of live music, raffles and shopping.

If you haven't heard, which I'm sure you have, has a new location opening in Montrose, down the street from .

On Oct. 28, the doors of the nearly 13,300 square feet specialty store will open, according to the Glendale News-Press.

Cedar-covered walls and Hawaiian holiday garb will line the store, including hand-painted murals of the vintage Montrose Clock and streets, the News-Press reported.

As Trader Joe's rises, local market .

In response, Cordons owner Gus Malouf told Patch that he plans to open a new restaurant on his supermarket site.

“So here we go: 'the big' and 'the small.'  The small struggles to survive and the big struggles to take over,” Malouf said.

Malouf first opposed the Trader Joe's construction since it is close to the store; however, he now thinks he could benefit from their presence and bring new customers his way.

“The personal touch is what separates us [from Trader Joe's], and we’ll continue to do that with a new restaurant I’m planning to add to this property," said Malouf. "We’ve been going through the permit process and hopefully we’ll be opening in a few months.”

Cordons is going to need to do a lot more than open a restaurant to keep up!!

Personally, my wife and I will continue to shop both establishments since they each offer their own benefits over the other. Now that TJ's is so close to Cordon's we will be able to do our shopping circuit on bikes rather than driving. I call that a win win win!

Looking forward to the New Trader Joe.s. Hopefully they have the parking situation figured out right unlike the store up on Foothill B'lvd. Trader Joes overall has good products at reasonable prices unlike the the big box stores.

Cordon's Ranch Market is disgusting. It smells like dead, rotting nastiness.

The last time I crossed Cordon's threshold I left dry heaving.

I can well empathsize with your loss. First thing, can you remember taking it off anywhere? DidRead More you wash your hands anywhere, soap makes fingers slippery. Did it fit well or was it a little loose? Running makes the arms swing. Strange as it may seem, it may still be in or on your own property. There are still honest people, call the desk of every business you went to. Also, call every pawn shop in your area and report. Good luck. If its any comfort, I found a diamond studded tie tack when I gazed at the soil in my garden and saw it. Keep us posted. b
