Pedrini Music Celebrates 66 Years of Family Business
Pedrini Music in La Crescenta celebrated their 66th year of family business Sunday with a day-long Jubilee event featuring live music, raffle prizes and fun to make the whole community strum, sing and dance.
Sunday marked the Jubilee celebration of 66 years of business for La Crescenta's own Pedrini Music.
Owners Manny, Diane and Joe Mora rang in the momentous occasion with a day packed full of music of all genres, prizes, food trucks, face painting, family fun and workshops.
Among the talented performers peppering the day long affair were GFP, the latest effort from legendary skateboarder Tony "Mad Dog" Alva, Greg Hetson of Bad Religion, Tom Davis Monk of DFL, and Avery Smith, drummer of renowned group Suicidal Tendencies, budding local talent 100 Onces, gypsy jam virtuosos KA And Her Kalashnikovs, mindbending rockers Stab City, raucous lady-powered La Bestia, and a slew of others.

In addition to a long roster of great live talent, the Mora's own son Joe, who also booked, promoted, and ran the show from all technical and festive standpoints, offered a grooving jam session of his own to close out the wonderful event.
Joe Mora is often on the road, working for an extraordinary slew of professional artists as a stage tech and touring professional, but when at home, he pulls out all the stops to aid his parents in the management, upkeep, renovation and expansion of their store. When his parents speak of him, they can't help but beam with pride for their talented son.

"Its finally time to watch Joey play!" Diane Mora excitedly whispered.
Diane Mora then proceeded to tell me of the first time her father, then in his eighties saw young Joe play with one of his more edgy projects, stoically enduring the brunt of his raucous, angular, guitar driven bombast. It would be a bit later, that Joe Mora provided a classical guitar concert for his grandfather's 90th birthday, prompting a sweet concession about his grandson's talents.
"He really can play. I just knew it," Diane Mora said.
Pedrini music relocated from its original Glendale location to 2916 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta in 1997. Since that time owners Manny and Diane Mora and their son Joe Mora have relished their "instrumental" role in serving the musical needs of the community. Offering musical instruments, instruction, sheet music, live concert events and good old-fashioned music banter, the Mora's place family and grassroots first in their business philosophy.
"We love this area. Glendale was nice, but we love being here in the mountains, and our clientele means so much," Manny Mora said.
Owner, Manny Mora credits his wife Diane's (born Pedrini) indefatigable resolve and loyalty for the longevity and success of their charming store.
"She is everything. She is the rock that keeps us standing in all that happens. We have seen hard times, believe me. It takes everything you've got to stay afloat in this. That and very understanding landlords," Mora said.
