Montrose Merchants Will Choose New Leadership for 2012

Five local merchants are vying for two positions on the Montrose Shopping Park Association Board after president Alyce Russell and treasurer Maureen Palacios announced they will not seek re-election.

Alyce Russell, president of Montrose Shopping Park Association and owner of , along with Maureen Palacios, owner of , announced last month that they would not seek re-election.  

The MSPA is an organization created to build programs, events to promote local merchants, Glendale public information Sgt. Tom Lorenz told Montrose Patch. The group has closed elections to determine the leaders.

Ballots will be counted at the next board meeting on Thursday, Dec. 1, to determine who will serve as new board members, told Patch. 

Five local business owners, several who question the board’s leadership abilities, are competing for two open slots amid an embezzlement investigation of former Glendale city councilmember John Drayman, according to the Glendale News-Press

The candidates for the 2012 Montrose Shopping Park Association board are Maroun Atallah, owner of ; Sebu Chatoyan, owner of ; Corey Grijalva, owner of ; Andre Ordubegian, owner of ; Robert Yoohanna, owner of Acquire Associated Realty commercial real estate.

New board members will help to determine whether the MSPA keeps antique and crafts vendors, also known as the Thieves Market, at the Sunday Harvest Market. 

The antique and crafts vendors could be eliminated from the Sunday Harvest Market, according to the MSPA on a November 3 board meeting. That decision deadline was originally set for December.
