Halloween may seem like its weeks away, but it’s never to early to start your search for the perfect Halloween costume. Avoid the Oct. 30 lines and plan early with our guide to the best costume shops in town.

Whether you’re planning to rock out as Lady Gaga, saving the world as Captain America or vamping it up in a homemade Elvira ensemble, the perfect costume is nearby. Here’s a list of five local costume shops.

: This quaint Montrose storefront has plenty of well-crafted costumes for tots and kids. Trick-or-treat down the yellow brick road this Halloween and choose from the shop’s selection of Wizard of Oz costumes. A shiny tin man outfit retails for $52 while a sweet scarecrow getup is just $19.99. Other standout costumes include a cuddly lion onesie for $32 and a comfy cow outfit – complete with a bell – for $25.

Accessorize your Halloween gown and choose from a massive costume jewelry selection that includes cocktail rings, bedazzled bangles and gleaming necklaces.

Pattye's Closet is located at 2422 Honolulu Ave., Montrose.

: Go green this Halloween. Stop by this La Cresenta retailer and choose from a selection of gently-warn Halloween ensembles. Prices range from $6.50 to $22 for these cute costumes. Favorites include spooky pumpkins and puppy dog outfits.

Once Upon a Child is located at 2607 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.

Halloween Time Superstore: This Glendale pop-up store is one-stop costume shop for the whole family. Choose from a variety of Marvel, Disney and Dreamworks costumes from mom, dad or the kids. In addition to their endless costume options, the Halloween shop has plenty of accessories, masks and wigs to match any gruesome getup. While you’re picking up costumes for the kids, don’t forget the pups. Halloween Time also has options for your favorite four-legged friend including a headless horseman, banana split or French maid costume.

Halloween Time Superstore is located at 900 N. Pacific Ave., Glendale.

Glendale Costumes: If you’re not looking to add to your lengthy costume collection, you can rent an outfit at this Glendale retailer. While the average rental retails for $60 – a simple Halloween ensemble will set you back $45 and an outrageous ensemble with plenty of accessories can range from $125 to $150. Popular choices include a fashionable flapper, polished pirate and chilling vampire. Stop by the shop now and pay upfront to reserve your costume for Halloween day. A typical rental period is three days and two nights. Make sure to return your costume on time – the Halloween late fee is $25 a day.
