UPDATE: Fat Dog Closing Soon; Wait Begins for Basin 141

The gastropub had been located in Montrose for almost seven years.

Montrose-La Crescenta Patch reported back on July 24 that the Fat Dog Gastropub at 2265 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose would be closing its doors within a month and moving to North Hollywood.

New owners, Dave and Joe Friedman, who have been longtime bartenders at the Fat Dog, are in the process of reopening the Fat Dog as Basin 141. According to an email from Dave Friedman, the Fat Dog will be open for about one more week. [Editor's note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that the Fat Dog had already closed./

The Friedmans are working with the state to get the liquor license transferred from the Fat Dog's owner and would like to open in early September, but it may take a few weeks beyond that, Dave Friedman told Patch.

The following sign has been posted in the window: "After almost seven years of valued business in Montrose, the Fat Dog is moving on to other locations. The owners thank you for your support at this time. We are all fortunate in that our long time bartenders, Dave and Joe Friedman are taking over ownership of the business. Dave and Joe are very excited for this opportunity and look forward to bringing a fresh new concept to the Montrose area. Please stay tuned for further developments. Thank you from all of us!"
