The first day of production for Fox Searchlight's film Hitchcock began Friday at in Montrose--where Dame Helen Mirren shopped following the filming.
The Academy Award-winning actress will play Alfred Hitchcock's wife Alma Reville in the film. Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins will portray Alfred Hitchcock, James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins and Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh.
The Montrose Shopping Park Association made the public announcement on Facebook Thursday, inviting locals to stop by the live film set and Montrose Shopping Park Friday.
Jessica Biel and Toni Collette are also apparently cast in the movie, according to Collider.com.
The film is a love story between Hitchcock and his partner, Alma Reville, Collider reports. It's set during the making of Hitchcock’s classic Psycho.
A film crew set up Thursday inside Faye's, transforming the intimate apparel shop into a retro-style ladies store with glimmering bathing suits, frilly swim caps, cat-eyed sunglasses and of course, knickers.
Mirren made a purchase at Faye's following the filming in Montrose.
Mirren earned an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in 2007's The Queen, according to her website. She was appointed a Dame of the British Empire in 2003.
