Patch Blog: PEAK Program at La Crescenta Presbyterian Begins

The most exciting place to be in La Crescenta on Wednesday nights!

Wednesday Night PEAK Begins!

is pleased to announce the opening of the winter session of our fast growing Wednesday night program called PEAK. PEAK stands for Praise and Education for Adults and Kids.

On Wednesday, Jan. 19, La Crescenta Presbyterian Church will begin the winter session of its  PEAK program. There are two new adult classes offered and classes for children of all ages ranging from age 2 through eighth grade. Nursery care is provided as well. Classes run from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and a home-cooked dinner is offered as well from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The suggested donation for dinner is $3 for adults and $2 for children.

The first adult class is called “First and Ten: Strategies for Winning the Game of Life.” What does it mean to be “successful”? How can I make the most of my life?  How can I live a life that matters? Every Wednesday night Lee Cook will lead a study of the Ten Commandments.

The second class for adults is called “Foundations for Families,” and is for couples and singles in their 20’s to 40’s. This class will study the writings of John Ortberg and his challenging premise: We are not our own self-improvement project. We are God’s handiwork! Come join us for energetic discussion, a supportive environment, and a lot of fun. Admission is free for all classes.

In the course of five years our weekly attendance has increased approximately 100% to the point where we average approximately 125 people including children each week. "Our Wednesday Night PEAK program serves a real need in our community," Pastor Andy Wilson says.

"Many folks come to the dinner which is home-cooked and have a chance to grow in their faith as a family through the various classes offered," Wilson says.

From personal experience, I have been attending PEAK with my wife and our two children for eight years now and it has come to be something that we all look forward to every Wednesday. There has been a steady flow of new people trying out PEAK and then staying around.
