The Fat Dog Gastropub Moving to North Hollywood

The Fat Dog gastropub will be closing doors within a month to relocate to North Hollywood, but another pub will be opening in its place within a few weeks after, according to the owner of the establishment Richard Mandeville.

The closure was first reported on the L.A. Eater website which writes that the pub will reopen as "Basin 141,"

That restaurant will be run and operated by two brothers, Dave and Joe Friedman, who have been working at The Fat Dog for the entire time it has been open, Mandeville told Patch.

"We only would have done it if it worked with Dave and Joe," Mandeville said. "It wouldn't have felt right if it wasn't them."

The Fat Dog will shut down within a couple of weeks and the new place will likely open some time in September, Mandeville said.

Mandeville said that it was time for the restaurant to move to a location in a bigger market than Montrose.  There is another Fat Dog location already in Hollywood on Fairfax Boulevard.
