Walktober: Fremont Elementary Kids Walk to School

Fremont Elementary School had a large turnout on International Walk to School Day during Walktober.

A squad of kids and parents hit the pavement on the walking school bus in Montrose and Sparr Heights last week.

The walking school bus started at Montrose Community Park, picking up students along Broadview Drive and down Las Palmas Avenue before the final destination: Fremont Elementary School.

Parents and students met Principal Christin Walley, state Sen. Carol Liu, D-Glendale; GUSD board member Nayiri Nahabedian; and several Glendale Fire Department firefighters and Glendale Police officers before the bell rang.
