Vets' Names Wanted for Memorial Day Service

How to honor your fallen hero on Memorial Day.

Do you know a vet who was killed in action or lost during wartime that deserves to be honored on Memorial Day?

The American Legion Verdugo Hills Post 288 and The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1614 will be holding its annual Reading of Names and Walk of Honor this Monday, May 30, 2011 at in celebration of Memorial Day. The organizations will be honoring vets that are friends or family members of local residents.

Residents are asked to submit vets’ names and information by this Wednesday May 25 (see below for more info). The vets do not have to be local to the area. The names will be placed along the walkway leading down to the memorial wall at Two Strike.

The Memorial Day service begins at 8:00 a.m. on May 30 and will occur rain or shine. It will include a presentation of colors, presentation of wreaths and flowers, reading of names of fallen heroes, patriotic songs and poems and the walk of honor.
