Two Strike Park War Memorial Dedication Ceremony Planned for September

The site will include a plaque bearing the names of 45 people from the La Crescenta-Montrose area who were killed in action in wars from the 20th and 21st Century.

The official dedication ceremony of the new Two Strike Park War Memorial should happen sometime in September, according to Mike Baldwin of the local Verdugo Hills Post 288 and VFW Post 1614.

The memorial was built in 1959 by American legion 288 and included a wall tribute to all men and women who had given their lives serving their country. The new memorial will  include a plaque with the names of 45 people from the La Crescenta-Montrose area who were  killed in action in wars from the 20th and 21st Century.

A refurbished wall was completed recently, and the plaque bearing the names of the local KIAs will be installed soon, according to Baldwin.

"We have to pick a date  and make sure the wall is complete," Baldwin told Patch. "We're cleaning up the site, doing landscaping around it, we are looking for September for our dedication and we hope to celebrate with a few activities up at the park for the kids and thank everyone in the community, all the politicians and all the businesses and everyone that has contributed."
