Top 10 California Baby Names for 2010
Jacob and Isabella were the top picks for parents of newborns.
The Social Security Administration has released a list of the 100 most popular baby names given to California newborns in 2010.
Going through life with a popular name has its pros and cons. Pros: people are less likely to mispronounce it, and your name is easy to remember. Con: you might have gone through elementary school with two other Karens or three other Michaels, and in an effort to distinguish you from the others, your teacher might have called you "Karen O." The name sticks, and before you know it, you're at your ten year high school reunion and people are still calling you "Karen O." "But it's just Karen!" you cry to deaf ears. Popularity is a blessing and a curse.
Check out this list of the top ten boys and girls names for the state to see what we'll be calling the next generation of Californians. The data is based on Social Security Card applications.
