Patch Picks: Where to Celebrate Mother's Day
Check out these great ways to honor the mothers in your life this Sunday!
1. Kick off the Mother's Day weekend early; the 18th Annual Revlon Run/Walk for Women on Saturday, May 7, is a great way to honor moms across Los Angeles. Join in a 5K run and health exposition to raise awareness and funds for women's cancer research at the Los Angeles Sports Arena at Exposition Park. Over 45,000 people normally participate in this event, suitable for all ages. Starts at 7 a.m., 5K at 8:45 a.m., and festivities end at noon. 3911 S. Figueroa St, Los Angeles.
2. Attend Descanso Gardens' annual Mother's Day Brunch and concert. Patina will be catering a gourmet brunch in the Rose Pavilion with seatings at 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday; 9 and 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Cost is $50 ($42 for members of Descanso Gardens), $17 for children ages 4 to 12, and free for children 3 and younger. Reservations are required. The reservation deadline is noon Tuesday, May 3. 3. will be featuring several massage and facial packages perfect for mothers to relax and indulge in a little "time away." Enjoy luxurious amenities such as the whirlpool, eucalyptus steam room and several tranquility lounges. 4. Enjoy a buffet brunch at this Mother's Day. Choose from various dishes and specialty stations such as a carving station and Belgian waffle station. The buffet will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday.
