Gas Prices Continue To Drop

Gas prices drop for 40th-straight day.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 39th time in 40 days, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $4.015, its lowest amount since Feb. 3.

The average price has dropped 28.5 cents over the past 40 days, including 1 cent on Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 4.9 cents less than one week ago, 20.7 cents lower than one month ago and 23.7 cents below what it was one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped a half-cent today to $3.985, its lowest amount since Feb 2. It is 5.1 cents less than one week ago, 21.9 cents lower than one month ago and 23.9 cents below what it was one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped 42 times in the past 46 days, falling 33 cents, including 1.5 cents on Saturday. It had increased 33 times in 34 days before the decreases began, rising 59.7 cents.
