Plastic bags will no longer be offered in stores located in unincorporated Los Angeles County, which includes La Crescenta and Montrose, and also adds a 10-cent charge for paper bags. The Department of Public Works will be at , 2675 Foothill Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today distributing free, reusable bags to help folks prepare for the ban’s implementation.
Traveling Skate Camp starts up in just a few weeks and registration is happening now for the popular summer youth program. The camp mixes activities at the Verdugo Skate Park, 1621 Cañada Blvd., with excursions to other skate parks including Montclair, Duarte and Oxnard. Descanso Garden’s Music on the Main jazz series presents Elliott Caine’s be-bop jazz beginning at 5:30 p.m. The concert is free with regular admission to Descanso, $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, and $3 for kids aged 5 to 12.
