'Escape' to Montrose Park for a Spring Picnic

Al's Deli can help you create a perfect picnic memory.

With spring finally deciding to arrive here in Southern California, it's time to head outdoors and enjoy some sunshine! Whether by yourself or with your family and friends, a picnic is the perfect way to enjoy the day. Montrose Park offers beautiful hillside picnic areas, complete with tables and views of our majestic Verdugo Mountains.

An expansive playground structure is the focal point at the park, complete with numerous slides, bridges, swings and a climbing wall that are perfect for children. Many of us have journeyed to this park to enjoy soccer or baseball games with the kids, but normally our family is so rushed that we do not get to take time to enjoy the other activities that Montrose Park has to offer.

Tennis courts are located on the upper parking level and are open for regular use when private tennis lessons are not being held; our children had the best time just running all over the place and learning how to play tennis. This is also a great spot for "bunny watching," as there are adorable little bunnies all over Montrose Park. My kids just love it!

So take some time to plan a great picnic day at the park for you and your family! Also, if you need help packing your picnic, you should know that makes picnicking easy! Every day there is a sandwich lunch special for $5.95, and Tomasian offers plenty of wonderful imported cheeses, olives and side dishes to complement your meal.

The most popular sandwich made daily is the "Italian Combo," which features Italian imported cold cuts and cheeses, covered with fresh veggies, peppers, olives and pickles, custom made to your liking. A whole wall of chilled drinks are available to go with your picnic lunch, or if you are thinking about a little more of a "gourmet" picnic, Al's deli offers homemade ravioli, tortellini, and stuffed manicotti in their refrigerator and freezer sections.
