Sandy Hook Elementary School may be thousands of miles away, but Glendale locals want to remember the victims of the .
AYSO Region 88 will host a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. Friday night at Verdugo Park, 1621 Cañada Blvd., Glendale. All community members are invited to attend, said Brian Leon of AYSO Region 88.
The soccer organization also placed a banner inside Once Upon a Time bookstore in Montrose for locals to write a notes for students at Sandy Hook Elementary.
“On behalf of AYSO Region 88, we would like to extend our appreciation to this wonderful community who so often looks beyond its borders for those in need and shows it by attending this solemn event to remember the victims of this terrible tragedy," Leon said via email.
