Farm Rich Gives to LA County Teen Charities

Farm Rich has chosen six youth-led charitable organizations to each receive a donation of $2,000 to further their work. The frozen snacks and appetizers brand selected projects led by children who dedicate their free time and energy to helping other youth. 

Receiving the donations are:

• Alyssa’s Bedtime Stories, Lancaster, Pa., founded by Alyssa Deraco, 15 – Alyssa’s nonprofit combines two of her passions – reading and helping the less fortunate. Since its founding in 2009, Alyssa’s Bedtime Stories has donated more than 10,000 books and 3,000 pairs of pajamas to underprivileged and homeless children.
• Bikes 4 Orphans, Glendale, Calif., founded by Sebouh Bazikian, 17 – Bikes 4 Orphans provides bicycles to orphans in Africa to improve their access to education. Sebouh visited the Machao Orphanage in Kenya in August 2013 to deliver 43 new bicycles to children, significantly shortening their hour-long walk to school.
• Conserve it Forward, Tampa, Fla., founded by Avalon Theisen, 12 – With a passion to reconnect people with the environment, Avalon founded Conserve it Forward in 2010 to increase environmental education, awareness and action. Through interactive events, presentations and nature videos, Avalon encourages the youth community to make the world a better place for all living things.
• Let’s Help Kids (LHK), South Riding, Va., founded by Rachel Harris, 10 – Rachel started LHK as a way to make other children happy by providing those whose families face financial hardship with gifts or access to special events they would not be able to afford. The organization has so far donated 150 weeks of summer camp, 76 birthday presents and 38 Halloween costumes, among many other items.
• My Name My Story, (MNMS) North Hills, Calif., founded by Amit Dodani, 15 – Amit, who struggled with speech challenges growing up, started MNMS as a way to promote empathy, unity and tolerance among the youth community. The social leadership organization carries out its mission through “Inspire Empathy” events, youth-led MNMS school clubs and sharing the inspirational stories of its members.
• Special Needs Athletic Programs (SNAP), Morristown, N.J., co-founded by Zach Certner, 17 – Zach created SNAP to both improve the lives of special needs children and show his peers how children with autism and other disabilities can benefit from their support. SNAP mentors work with special needs children at weekly sports clinics, yoga classes, art programs and tutoring sessions.

“Farm Rich is a family brand, and it’s our honor to support these children who already at a young age have chosen to dedicate themselves to helping others,” said Shannon Gilreath, Farm Rich senior brand manager. “The work they’ve done is such an inspiration and we’re pleased to give them a little extra help so they can continue their missions.”

Farm Rich has supported other youth nonprofits in the past, donating over $35,000 since 2010.
