AOL owned Patch before selling it to Hale.

@John, I was thinking the same thing last few times I tried to find LOCAL news & info here. Read MoreWha t a waste of time. I think it's gone downhill since Nicolle Charky left. She was into it & got people involved. A little enthusiasm, replies to followers & once again..wait for it...LOCAL news, info, gossip, announcements, etc. is what made this our Patch. Isn't that the friggin' point!? Patch defines itself as: "Simply put, Patch is an innovative way to find out about, and participate in, what's going on near you. We're a community-specific news, information and engagement platform driven by passionate and experienced new media professionals. Patch is revolutionizing the way neighbors connect with each other, their communities, and the national conversation. " Hmmmm....not in about a year, in my estimation. Did some Googling & found Nicolle's farewell. I don't know her, but I came to know her writing, humor & interest as well as her name...synonymous with Montrose Patch - for a reason. She connected. BRAVO, girl...onward to the LA Times. http://montrose.patch.com/groups/around-town/p/nicole-charky-patch-goodbye All that's left now are a bunch of re-posted trending items on subjects I don't give a BEEP about. "Around Town" news was last updated 2/6/14 with generic SoCal Flex Alert info, the Police & Fire Blog was one day more recent - 2/7/14, and Top News was heart-stopping! Muffin Tin Frittatas & some Zillow real estate crap. Ooh, that's hometown journalistic magic right there! I don't care that AOL (geez, they're still around!? Shows you my level of disinterest...since they charged by the minute about 20 years ago, I haven't cared for them much) owned/owns it, or that some other venture capital/investment/turnaround group took it over...Hale something? Hale Bopp? Isn't that a cult? Or a comet? That might be preferable and a better explanation than the reality. It figures that a New York based company is behind Patch now as we see it wither on the vine, losing the charm, appeal and now apparently the attention of individual communities along with the direction it was once headed. Are they too fast-paced and corporate for Patch? I can find what's trending in LA, CA or the USA splashed all over other sites. I want to run away from the spoon-fed sheeple and know what is actually happening in real time within a few mile radius, banter with others concerned about Meatball or what happened on the 2 or 210, comment on strange hill person sightings...and at one time, Patch was there. I saw a how-do-you-like-us-now type thing at the bottom of the page. Though they won't like it and may not even care, I might take them up on their offer to let me spout off on how OUR Patch has become GENERIC standard Patch...repetitive, uninteresting, sadly lacking and not worth visiting.

I absolutely agree. So many workers associated with the local filming industry lost jobs &Read Morefutu re prospects due to LA losing business due to CA taxes & restrictions. FilmWorks & other groups are trying to stop the hemorrhaging, and I'm happy to hear there is a bill we can get behind. How tragic that the film capitol & part of what made LA famous is now disappearing, taking with it our jobs & patronage at local businesses. We need to share this on social media & send a note of support to our representatives demanding their support on AB 1839. Thank you, T Jones, for bringing this to our attention.

There has been a change of ownership at Patch. New management has fired all editors of all localRead MorePat ch cities and towns. It will now carry national stories only in order to keep the wolves at bay. Bye bye Patch as you knew it.

Have you tried submitting a message via "contact us" from the main website? My fianceRead Moresubm itted his claim and although his payments were delayed by this transition they have just begun. EDD sent several letters. They scheduled and kept appointments for telephone interviews and were actually quite courteous over the phone. Try this method of contacting them and give them a couple of days to respond. Good Luck on your search!
