Photos: Snowfall, Bright Lights Illuminate Montrose
On Montrose's 'White Friday,' locals came to play in the snow, sing carols, meet Santa and see the tree lighting.
Montrose Shopping Park imported snow and hosted Santa in a tree lighting extravaganza at the corner of Ocean View Boulevard and Honolulu Avenue Friday night.
Long Beach Ice Co. brought in the snow Friday afternoon before the 'Hollywood' style tree lighting at 7 p.m. Friday, Mary Dawson wrote on the Montrose Shopping Park blog.
MSPA President Alyce Russell welcomed the visitors and encouraged them to thank local merchants for the event.
Glendale council member Frank Quintero spoke to the crowd, thanking the local merchants.
"Let me start by welcoming everyone and letting you know that from the elected officials, the staff of the city of Glendale, and all of the residents, we want to wish you a happy holidays and Christmas," Quintero said.
Quintero encouraged the crowd to shop local and buy holiday gifts in Montrose this season.

I drove on Honolulu from Verdugo to enjoy the beautiful lights and decorations on my way to Trader Joe's. The Christmas tree on the southwest corner of Honlulu and Ocean View was beautiful. Well, everything was beautiful. However, I was very disappointed that all the lights and decorations stop right before getting to Trader Joe's. Althought they are new to the neighborhood, it would have been nice to extend the decorations one more block so all the many people that frequent Trader Joe's could enjoy them and it would have been a nice welcome to Trader Joe's themselves. Just a thought.

Hi Salli Jo, thanks for sharing your thought on the local decorations. Do other people think Trader Joe's should put up lights, too?

Trader Joe's can do their own lights if they feel it's the right thing to do....otherwise just keep things as they are.
