Crime Blotter: Mail Stolen

iPhone Stolen at CVHS Track

A man reported to deputies that some time between 8:30 and 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, someone stole an iPhone and a pair of running shoes from a bag he had placed along side the track while he was playing soccer on the track field. The iPhone was valued at $400 and the running shoes at $80. The victim did not see anyone near his bag while he was playing.

Mail Theft and Forgery

Two women reported to deputies that mail had been stolen from their mailboxes, located in the 1900 block of Foothill Blvd. in front of the .

Both victims reported that approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 21, a woman came to their homes with envelopes of their mail that she had found on the ground beside the mailboxes. Both victims reported the envelopes had been opened and the contents were missing.

Once victim went to the La Crescenta post office to report the alleged theft. According to the report, she was told that the post office knew of the problem and had checked the mailbox. Post office employees found the lock worked properly. She was reportedly advised to file a police report. The victim put a stop payment on the missing checks and closed her bank account.

The second victim checked her bank account online and found that the check she attempted to mail was altered and cashed, the amount, memo line and who the check was made out to changed. She contacted her bank’s fraud department and closed her account.

Deputies advised both victims to place fraud alerts with credit bureaus.

A vehicle break-in was reported at 1 a.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of Community Avenue.

Glendale Police reported an assault at 1:54 p.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of La Crescenta Avenue.

Glendale Police reported a petty theft in the 2900 block of Piedmont Avenue at 1:15 a.m. Monday.

A vehicle break-in was reported at 3:15 a.m. Monday in the 3000 block of Honolulu Avenue.

Glendale Police reported a burglary in the 4200 block of Boston Avenue at 11 a.m. Monday.

A grand theft occurred in the 2700 block of Honolulu Avenue at 7:02 p.m. Thursday.

The following reports were taken from Glendale Police daily booking reports.

Hrazda Nessians, 49, was arrested at 10 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of transporting marijuana, controlled substance violations, unlawful weapons possession violations, and probation violations. The arrest occurred at 4050 La Crescenta Ave.
