Crime Blotter: Hikers' Cars Burglarized

Hikers' Cars Burglarized

Three vehicles parked off the Angeles Crest Highway in the Switzer Picnic area parking lot were burglarized between 11:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26. The three victims had been hiking in the area. All reported a front window smashed on each car and property taken from inside. Among the items reported stolen were an iPhone, Garmin GPS, wallet containing a license and $100 cash, backpack, make-up bag and flip phone.

Drunk in Public Arrest

At 11:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, deputies responded to a call regarding a “known drunk” near , 2601 Foothill Blvd. Upon arrival, deputies found a pedestrian, later identified as 44-year old Damon Lane Jones of La Crescenta, walking in the middle of Cross Street about 300 feet from the donut shop.

According to the report, Jones yelled: “I’m Damon and you need to take me to jail because I have a warrant,” followed by, “I’m drunk right now. I just finished a bottle of tequila.”

Deputies noted that Jones breath smelled like alcohol and appeared drunk, had clothing in disarray, eyes that appeared red and slurred speech. Jones reportedly also could not stand or walk without assistance.

A warrant check verified that Jones had an outstanding warrant. He was transported to Crescenta Valley Station and booked on warrant and suspicion of being drunk in public.

Car Ashtray Swiped

A woman reported to deputies that her locked car, which sat parked in a carport in the 3800 block of Oragnedale Avenue, was broken into sometime between 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 and 11:30 a.m. the following day. A car vacuum and the car’s ashtray were reported stolen.

An employee of Air Service reported to deputies that the company's air and water machine at the station, 3044 Foothill Blvd., had the padlock picked open sometime between Tuesday, July 5 and 8:25 a.m. Tuesday. Aug. 30. Stolen from the machine was $318.50 in quarters.

Glendale Police made a drunk in public arrest at 2:36 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 in the 2900 block of Honolulu Avenue.

Glendale Police reported an attempted theft in the 3800 block of Altura Avenue at 4:14 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3.

Los Angeles County Sheriffs reported an assault at 1:02 a.m. Monday in the 2800 block of Henrietta Avenue.

A burglary occurred in the 2000 block of Valdera Drive at 8:15 p.m. Monday.

A car was reported stolen in the 2700 block of Community Avenue at 10:54 a.m. Wednesday.

Nicolas Sardo, 35, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at 2941 Honolulu Ave.
